A box pops up and tells me my player needs a security update.

Security settings for the license you are requesting requires that you permit your player to send a unique identifier to the licensing server at MicroSoft to uniquely identify your player installation. This process is referred to as Individualization. While it may not be necessary for all licenses this security measure prevents compromised (hacked) player software from being able to obtain licenses illegally.

Individualizing your player does not reveal or report any sensitive information about you, your system, or what you are watching on your player. It simply allows Microsoft to revoke hacked player software so it can be replaced.

If you get this message just click OK and allow the player to obtain the update through the Microsoft Server. This one-time patch only takes a few seconds to install and will not come up again once it has been done.
